Outstanding!!! All i can say is WOW ,you got a bad@ss setup .

Have you thought about swapping the coils to LS1/LS2 Smart Coils/ GM truck Coils? Those will support 1500hp with no issues.
I think you should look into that, since you mentioned that the plugs were gapped all the way down they are robbing you a couple HP.
What's your IDC?

Again congrat!!

Yep, been building engines for nearly 15 years and when I tore this thing down I saw NO (zip, zilch, nada) reason to build anything beyond stock as far as strength is concerned. It's a very stout engine. As I've said before, the composite head gaskets are the only potential weakness that I can foresee. Good tuning and quality fuel (e85 in this case) make all the difference when it comes to blowing head gaskets.

The update would be that it lifted a head later in the summer and is no more. I believe we turned the boost up to around 22psi before this happened. It did some damage to the head and block so it was never put back together. Brandon really got out of cars so his supra has been sitting in the garage ever since.

Nah, i dont thing it was tuning. At the time we had both finish builds and used rock auto head bolts, mine being a 1.5jz... well we both did the same thing at around the same boost but with mine being an iron block i was able to surface and put a new gasket and studs back in.
It just stretched the cheap bolts, so lesson learned you get what you pay for

Well i moved forward with my build and here's how mine ended.... for now.

Sorry to hear about that 1UZ lasting only a couple of months after all the time , money and hard work poured on it. Indeed it is discouraging after a failed build. Some people tend to lay low on it. Seen it many times.

It is always the case, you are right when you say , you cheap out specially on engine internals , you will learn the hard way.

What tranny do you have on that 300zx ? CD0009 ?
