Default valvoline atf typt t-vi???

Ok so after searching today with no solution im putting this up. I went to orileys today to top off my transmission fluid in my new to me sc. They didnt have dextron ii or dextron iv. They only had vi.... Will this work?. The guy at orileys said it will be fine if not better... My buddy who is kinda a mechanic said it should be fine also and topped his off today with the stuff. I havent put any in mine yet... Will this kind work or did my friend just possible mess his transmission up?
