Default Easy swaps?

Would the 4.3L from the 430 series or 4.7L(2UZ) from the trucks drop in the SC400 nicely?

Are you insane? That sounds like a huge waste of money. But it would be possible.
If you really want to do an engine swap, go for the 1jz or 2jz.

Understand that the truck engine is tuned to make more mid power and peak power is way below the 4.0. Now, you could swap heads, cams, etc but it would get complicated very quickly.

If I was going that route I would try to have a stroker crank and correct rods built for the 4.0 block and do a slight over bore. Should end up with around 4.5 liters, more compression and power. But, without upgrading the exhaust system STARTING with the restrictive headers you probably wouldn't make much more than 30hp peak over stock. Mid power would be WAY up.

This is expensive. What are your goals. A little mind candy or a serious project?

i guess blast racing has lots of money (they do). 1993 sc400 (tube frame), with a 2uz toyota tundra truck engine upsized to 4.9 liters with turbo and no nitrous. of course they did not their own internals and machining, and probably a lot of custom parts. then again, when you have 1,600 hp with 7sec quarters, you're going to do a lot of custom stuff.

That's what I thought. It's just something I was wondering about. A SC400 is going to be the next car I want to buy. I want it to have about 350rwhp while still keeping it a V8. But if someone comes out with a turbo kit for the 400, that would be great.

Sleeve the 4.0 block and use the 4.7 Tundra crank....
