turbo timer install diy (for SC300's)
sup guys. i bought a turbo timer a while back and finally put it on last night. now there are plenty of instructions out there for theses things but for me i couldnt read jap and the little"easy to use" harness they sent wasnt the right one. anywho heres what i did.
disconnect your battery.
remove your driver's side paneling. all the way up to the leather.
i didnt take pics on this becuase lets face it if you cant do that on your own you probably shouldnt be doin what your doing.
any way next step take your turbo timer and clip off the stupid easy harness.
hks units have three wires coming off it red green blue.
from here your gonna find your ingition harness and splice into it.
warning different year models have different color wires
92 sc300
white+white/red is the constant 12v
this is the one your gonna attach the red wire from your turbo timer. i only used the white/red wire.
next is the pink/blue wire. this is your accessory power.
this one connects to your blue wire from the turbo timer.
last one on the harness to connect is the black/orange wire. this is ignition #1
connect that to the green wire.
once thats finished find your e brake wire its a black wire runnin under your arm rest. splice that then connect your ground from your hks unit. after that its good to go.

I ran mine from the ignition but what I've been noticing is these colors that I pointed out are pretty much universal inside the sc300. Example: blue/pink wire in my exp has been found to be the accessory wire everywhere In my car. I would double check it just in case but it seems they used a standard when putting them together. Hope that helps man G/L

hey thanks for this DIY by the way...i installed mine this morning and i followed it thru all the way.. my issue is when i shut off my ignition my motor also shuts off no delay.. only the electronics stuff does delay.. i have a 92sc400 by the way.. thanks again

Second question. I have installed my new electronic turbo timer by HKS. Works great and does exactly what it is supposed to. My question is when I turn the key off and lock the doors to exit the car, my steering wheel stays in place. I would like to know if this is something I can tap into or something to get my steering to go up and away when the key is removed to exit/enter the car?
Anyone thought about this, or do I have something not right?
Also, I cant move the steering at all once the timer is engaged and the key is out. I have to do this before I turn the car off. I would like to get this figured out.

Mark, no i haven't had a chance to go thru my SC yet. Been pretty busy wit work and fam. So if yours work just fine wit a new timer, my issue could be a bad timer. Did u ran it same way as this diy thread?
And about your steering wheel, mine been doin the same thing after the manual trans swap. But when my 1jz was still auto, it works just like a factory steering wheel should. So i think there some wiring screw up on mine. Ill keep u posted about my timer.
