timing off or bad ect??

Default timing off or bad ect??

So I did a motor swap on my sc with a stock 2 jz motor and we changed the timing belt and water pump we didnt touch the cams or mess with the timing. Fired up the car and it sounds like the timing might be off it sounds like its missing firing or some thing . I ask if its a bad ect cause right when I turn the car over the theromsta sky rockets to over h and I heard if its a bad ect it could cause the timing to go off so my question is it a ect I know theres two of them is it one of thoses or the timing its self thks alot any help would be app it.

If u didnt touch the timing belt or cams howd u set the timing? Bro be a little bit more clear on what the issue is..... And by ect do u mean ecu? Reafing this gave me a headache.....

The issue is theres a ticking in the valves coming from the head. And I mean the engine coolant temperature sensor not the ecu I heard if theres a bad ect it causes the car to add or pull fuel causing the timing to go off

Did u remove the cluster at all? I think u have multiple issues. Who set the timing, and di u use a timing light? Check the wiring on the ect also.

The timing was fine when we pulled the motor we just sliped the belt over and left it as is cause it was fine before.i pulled the cluster but it did nothing for me we didnt use a timing gun cause like I said we left it as is what would I look for on the cluster?and I could I tell if the timings off I know theres two groves in the cam and there suspose to be lined up but besides that is there any thing I could look for?

Slipping the belt off and replacing with a new belt in hopes that all gears are in alignment is not proper when setting timing. Unless you made sure the timing marks on the cam gears and crankshaft are a perfectly aligned, your timing is off. Not taking up slack on either sides of the belt could result in a tooth or more to be off.
