Default Odd over heating issue...yes I used the search button.

A few months back I replaced belts, as well as thermostat, and temp sensor, and heater control valve. Car has been running fine until 2 days ago. Heat would not come out of vents, and car started over heating...now the weird part...if I punch the gas, as I did to get up the hill I live on to quickly park the car in the garage, heat comes out of the vents and the temp dumps back down to normal. I have no clue how that would work, but does anyone have any ideas as to what maybe the problem?

I did flush out the radiator, and piping, but not block...still dont see how , if anything could be blocking anything, be in the system to cause it to NOW start over heating and interfering with heat in side the car.

Any ideas as how to remedy this?

sounds like you need to get the air out of the system

Sc300? If so...I would look into the fan clutch, that could explain the temp dropping when revving up.

I think it may just be some air, going to give it a try later this week or this weekend depending on time. And yes fan still cranking away. I was screwing around with some stuff and I think that may have put air in the system.

Just had same issue after waterpump install on ny sc400. Three things to check. 1 jack front end of car up run with cap ooen to relasd air, 2. Thermostat is wrong kind. Sonething on .249s. Have to get nismo or it over heats weid. So get one fron toyota. And 3rd. U still have a place were the pressure is leaking which causes the system not to make addiquate pressure for everythibg to push threw. I had all three. I let my car sit up and run and also replaced thermostat twice....

Just because the fan is spinning does not mean the clutch in engaging properly. Can you feel a strong rush of air from behind the fan?

Just curious, but why did you replace the thermostat to begin with? My car did exactly what you describe when it had a blown head gasket. It started off slowly and intermittently, losing coolant slowly over the course of a couple months. When it leaked enough coolant, it would show the symptoms you describe. Eventually, it totally failed in a spectacular way, blowing steam and missing.

looks like it was just air in the line.

I replaced the thermo because, well there wasnt one. Or I should say there where fragments of one. The previous owner backyard-mechanic-ed the entire cooling system when the heater control valve died. As well as having the water pump leaking, all over the alt, and having power steering toast, and they some how broke off the temp sensor...yes broke off.
