Default ***UPDATE***Quick Spool Valve on my 1JZ, initial impression...

***UPDATE***

Sorry it took so long. But the shop I was using was in the middle of relocating and they are heavily involved in professional drifting. And sinse I have 3 other cars to drive I didnt rush them. They are sponsored by "NOZ" drink and are always on the go. Check out http://www.chrisforsberg.com/ when you get a chance, the 2 guys on the bottom of the page in shades are Brian and Ray. They are the owners of MA Motorsports in Maryland and do the work on my car. They run Nissan 370 with Titan 5.6 race engines and have a beast of a Infiniti M with that engine in it. Anyway the car is back and very streetable but I lost 60 hp due to change in exhaust housing. Looking at ways to make it up. But here are the before and after dyno sheets.

Before the install, I was running the PTE 6262 w/ .63 housing, 264 BC Cams, 550 injectors and SAFC= 414 hp @ 6600 rpm and about 365lbs TQ @ 5200rpm.

After the intall, I now have the 6262 w/ .84 housing divided and removed the SAFC and now running Apexi Power FC, As you can see I lost considerable top end. I really love it more of nice steady strong pull then just *BAM*. I embarressed my friend in his new camaro. LMAO.Still laughing about it. Now to enjoy for awhile. Then sale the car. Or sell the setup and go with a DBB GT35 or GT40 from Precision or Garrett Turbo. Getting too old for this.

Now that I did this would I recommend it? No. I think I would have gotten the same results with a smaller turbo, 5857 or so. Definitely do a DBB. 3 different shops advise the the 6262 is a great turbo but for my taste and for what I want it maybe a wee too big. So stay tune for sale of parts.

AFTER:

ORIGINAL POST:

I finally did it. I had to purchase exhaust housing .84 divided to replace the undivided .58. Any way as most of you probaly know my 1J was making 418-420 at the wheels. (Mods in my sig). But the lag was livable but I want it a little more streetable. Now mind you, this my initial impression due to the car has not been tuned for the QSV, due to infamous bad 1JZ coils causing 4000 rpm breakup. Now after stalling some new ones. By the way Rockauto has them from as low as $53.00 a piece. I can really say it's worth money. Torque hit's in the low 3,000 rpm especially in 4th and 5th gear. Looking at increase of 35-50hp between 3000-3500rpm I am at 10 psi on the 62 due to tune. But hopefully I will get it on the dyno in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for before and after dyno sheets.

Yeah, I read about utilizing this type of setup also, but was steered away by members on here. I would to see the results myself. Seen Supra's acheive over 100 horsepower on the dyno with them.

Sounds awesome. The low 3000 range is where a TTC twin setup spools, so that is not bad at all. In for the dyno results

We run together, and it made more power and the car pulls hard.

I have the QSV-ready manifold on my car but just a little turbo atm (6076). I plan on going bigger in the future so I'll post it here when I have my big boy turbo and QSV. I've seen some crazy results with it though!

Wow, I'm jealous, this is the way to go when doing a single setup on the 1JZ, imo.

Thats a good choice the QSV really does work, people have been doing it for years on other cars.
I would say it would help just as much on a 2jz or 1uz, whatever you have it should spool faster.
I think sound performance makes them.

I had to have my Drewgo manifold modified. It didn't take much. Sorry for delay on posting the results but the car is still in the shop due to unforeseen circumstances. Hopefully soon. Shop has moved to a new location and they are running in the Formula D series this year so they are quite busy.

Nate,

This is very weird , out of all the QSV setup , this is the only one that i have seen not make power and alot of tq, the exhaust exhaust seems to be too small and i don't how they are controling the valve , or they are familiar with it but you shouldn't lose any power that's for sure.

I think you should keep the setup, not switch to the garrett because you may have the same issue if you don't pick the correct exhaust housing while using the QSV.

Talk to Larry at SP and tell him your setup and see what he recommends! You should spool atleast 500 rpm sooner than the old setup / make more power and more TQ.

It seems to me that you need a bigger exhaust housing ,and make sure Ray is very familiar with tuning the QSV and you should be set.

Edit
You may have to go 6265 or 6266 to get a bigger exhaust housing bigger than .81 , .81 divided it really too small when you are using a QSV.
