Default Anyone converted to TT ecu before going turbo?

Has anyone ever converted to a TT (aristo or supra) ecu with the appropriate hardware (injectors, map sensor, IAT, etc) in preparation for going turbo but remained NA for a period of time? Is this a horrible idea?

I was thinking I'd like to convert to a TT ecu and go coil on plug to delete the distributor in preparation for going turbo, but run it NA for a little while.

Thoughts?

It should work fine, the ecu does not care if you boost or not, but you may run a bit richer than normal though at WOT cause you will have less airflow than normal at that load (0 psi).

Not many people run the TT ecu on na-t's so I doubt you will get much first hand info, but It should run just fine and is a good idea to get your ecu and ignition sorted out so you can have fun when its turbo time.

do the NA-T guys do anything for timing retard in boost?

i know the TT ECU retards timing based on load, but i would imagine the NA ECU does not have any of that higher (boost) load stuff mapped...

well the general consensus seems to be don't run the NA ecu at all when boosted, so yes, they have a TT ecu retarding timing or a standalone that is tuned properly.

Though this doesn't apply to me, what would you do about the distributor? I'm assuming using a 7mgte CPS?

yes, 7m CPS and vvti coilpacks. The write up is already on this site.

It will run fine. I ran my Aristo GTE NA when trying to diagnose bad twins. It was a total slug with the low compression, but ran fine, WOT or not. I bet your NA motor would run pretty good with its higher compression.
