Engine Swap - '98 VVT-i going into '93 SC300 - I am going to rue the day...
I am buying a relatively low mileage (55k) 1998 2JZGE VVT-i engine to put in place of the 181k 1993 2JZGTE engine in my SC300. The donor and the donee are California cars.
How much trouble have I signed on for?
Will I ever be able to get this smogged in CA?
Kind regards,
Wade

Im more concerned with the security system. There have been several guy that wanted to swap the VVT-i 1uz in to there older 400. But its the transponder in the ECU that gave them trouble. That meens you have to have all the stuff. Ignition switch, Key, ECU, Door locks etc, to make it work. Now thats 400's, but I dont see why it would be different for the 300. 98-00 was the year that they started the transponder security system. Good luck. If you have both cars then you should be fine. But you got alot of swapping to do.
