Default 97 to a 98 transmission swap

Hey the cl I was was looking at some mpg data around the netand I was wondering if any of you have experienced changing out the archaic 4 speed automatic in my 97hearts sc400 with a 5g speed automatic from one of the newer models.

Anyone have a ballpark idea what that would cost ? Or better if anyones tried it what do you get for results and would it be worth it?

Thanks everyone

I don't think that it will work. The 5 speed Auto came in the VVTi motors and the older ECU from your 1997 will likely not manage the newer transmission. Why not make it a 5 speed manual?

Ah okay just curious. Purchased mine not too long ago just kind of feeling out what's out there for increasing mpg. 25ish for highway still ain't bad though.

change your differential, it will be easier and can get you a couple more mpg's. It might feel slower at launch but oh well.
