Default What else to remove while the engine is out?

I been planning to go NA-T for a while and rebuilt a spare block and head. I currently have the engine out and I will be removing a much as possible. I am going to get rid of my cruse control, egr, all unneeded vacuum lines, A/C system, and maybe a fuse box relocation. What else should I remove that I have the access to everything? I am going to keep my ABS because I will drive the car on the streets.

Is there a significant weight savings by removing the heater core?

I wont use the AC and it wont be my DD so I wont have to worry about it being too hot or too cold. I wont be able to pass smog with any of my plans unfortunately but lets just "Yes, I will pass"

You could remove your steering rack and pinion. You could remove your quarter panels. How about your windshield? what about removing the bumper support?

You could always seam weld and reinforce your engine bay a bit if you have the means to paint it before the engine goes back in.

wire tuck, clean bay, do poly or solid steering rack bushings cause thats the easiest they will ever be to do.
Heater core is probably a good idea to keep.
you can paint your ABS block in the bay while its easy to mask everything off around it.
I know mine is going to be rusty looking soon after so many years If I dont paint it.
