Unhappy 92 Lexus SC400 starting then shutting off

The car starts then quickly shut off. In order for me to get it to start when it does this i have to rev the car for a few seconds and then the car will come on and stay on. After it is on there are no problems and it runs good. Sometimes the car will start up with no problem but for the most part i have to rev the engine for it stay on. I took it to a shop and they ran a diagnostics test and the guy said that it was reading a faulty front left O2 sensor. Could this sensor be the cause of the problem? also the no trac light is on and so is the check engine light.... they go on and off.

Your fuel pump ECU is probably dying. I had the same thing happen to my 93 SC300 when I first got it. Here is a link on how to fix it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...tures-faq.html

It works very well for both SC400 and SC300. I've done it myself since i had exactly the same problem. However, you should be aware that doing this mod like it is described in the above mentioned thread will result in your fuel pump being turned on even when your engine is off, as long as the ignition is "ACC ON", e.g. while listening to the radio.
You can either change your fuel pump ECU (they are relatively cheap) or use a relay that is activated by the ECU.
