Default manual sc?

what's up everybody...

kinda curious... anybody have an sc3/sc4 with manual trans? if so, did you convert from an automatic? or did it come that way?
i have a '96 gs, and a buddy said it'd be possible to do... but i'm kinda skeptical...

the only manual SC's are the SC300.

if you want to convert your automatic to manual, hope you got plenty of loose cash laying around. it's going to cost you an arm and a leg.

You kno I hear different sides of converting an automatic to a manual

Some say I have to get like tons of parts and it's going to cost a fortune, but some say it'll only cost like $2000-$3000

One could do it themselves. If they know what they are doing for maybe $3,000 with used parts. If they do any/all custom work themselves. Otherwise, it could cost a lot. I really don't know. If I know I want a manual car, I just buy a manual car.

I've got a '95 SC300 with a 5 speed, and when I shift it right, I love it. When I grind second, I hate it. The 1 - 2 shift is not forgiving. But the tight gears make this tranny strong.

if you can do the labor yourself and get the parts for really cheap it can be done for not much we did a 5spd conversion on a Maxima and it cost 500 eheheh it helped knowing someone with a salvaged Maxima 5spd to pull parts from

the expensive part is labor... it takes alot of work and when its all done you have to get a manual ECU or get an ECU programed (I'd recommend it)

its usally simpler and cheaper to just wait for the right car to come along and buy it so you dont have to swap

what I do wana see is a 6spd SC400 V8 eheheh

That is not always the case my conversion is going to cost about
$1200.00 .
flywheel $115 bolts $30 bearings and snap rings $100 clutch $140
pressure plate $350 trans paid $500 for one and $550 for the other both 6speeddrive shaft free rearend both from a friend shift booth from lexus $30. That price includs odd and ends plus sold my tt auto for $700,not a bad price for the conversion. I still am waiting for some more parts to get in.

I recently bought a 92 SC300... auto. I looked at some 5-speeds, butthey were all in horrible shape. they required more exterior and interior work than I wanted to spend money on.

I ended up finding a CLEAN, well kept pearl white SC300 for only $5,200.00. I also have a 2JZ-GTE swap including the 6speed tranny, ecu and harnress. So... what's so hard about the conversion again? Is this the general consensus because of the amount of time and money it takes? what if you have the time to be down, and the money it takes to convert? Is it still such a hard task?

I know the firewall has to be cut to add the clutch master cylinder. I figured buying the pedal assembly, replacement center console insert, guage cluster and clutch fluid hard-lines shouldn't be a big deal. Am I missing something? Is there some huge difference in wiring between the auto and manual harnesses?

Help me out here. do you all know of anyone here that has done such a conversion? I have a friend here that has converted his auto Supra TT to a 6speed. He and his brothers did it themselves. Anyone know if the SC is so different?

Thanks,

nick

Depends on what tranny you want to go with. If you want to swap a Getrag V161, the tranny alone will cost you $5000 new. If you're looking at a used R154 from the MKIII Supra, yeah, maybe closer to $2000-3000 total. Really depends on how cheap you get your labor too. I think the Getrag is excessive for a regular SC400 anyway. The R154 is plenty strong for our motors.

The problem is that nobody's ever done it so quite a bit of experiementation/R&D will have to be done with ecus, gauge cluster, bellhousing, driveshaft, shift column, etc.

if it were me i'd just start looking for a 5 speed. it seems like it is more work than it is worth to convert over.
