^^^Very well said
If the BFI was better than an aftermarket intake why don't Supra owners do it? Their airbox becomes a BFI with the simple removal of the lid.

I dont know, ask the Supra owners...but we arent discussing Supra's, were talking about n/a SC's. And it has been shown that a BFI is more than sufficient for the stock 2JZ-GE.

I dont think we arent talking about NA SC's
this is a Soarer he owns (from previous post or thread he started he mentioned soarer)
I could be wrong ofcourse.. but also noone in canada owns a sc300.. atleast not unless they imported it from the USA.. as it was never sold here.. jsut the sc400.
therefore its a 1jzgte -- maybe the OP can clarify his vehicle for us - although a Moot Point.

opening the Lid of the airbox - brings in warmer air like a cone filter, but does allow increased air..
BFI in theory if done correctly allows Colder air - not from the engine bay to enter the air intake.

i did this and went t my local plastic store and bought a sheet of plastic too. The sheet was measured and fit t seal the tops and side of box from hot air. No more choked air at mid to upper rpm. i suggest to go this route and not a big cone air filter.

I've owned BFI'd boosted Soarers for the past 10 years (TT, VVTi T), no problems.

The key is to first of all have a path for the cooler air to pass and to properly seal. Plenty of info on here and on Aussie Soarer forums as well, have fun hunting

Not really, but it's all in the eye of the beholder I suppose what you think is dirty or not. Besides, if a replacement is needed just throw in a fresh genuine filter, they're only around $35.

In regards to road debris entering in you shouldn't really have a problem. My first Soarer didn't have the undertray fitted with a BFI and I couldn't notice any real debris around the air filter housing.

Are these BFI filter mods effective on the SC300 NA's?..(seems to help on the V8's)....if so I think I'll give it a go on my SC300.

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm seriously considering buying these ASAP, looks like all the hard work has already been done with these kits

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BFI-3-4-Inta...ht_2803wt_1135
and they also offer the factory air box with the cut out already done for the BFI

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BFA-Airbox-9...ht_2013wt_1336

Thanks in advance guys!

You can buy the Poly plastic and use a box cutter and hole saw and do it your self for a lot less money.

I was at the local LOWES today and they had 1/6th thick acylic plastic. I wasnt sure how that would work compared to the polypropylene plastic that I had to order online last time I did this?
