Yeah that's what everyone says, but that's not the question.

Mounting the entire MKIII pumpkin, how have people done it?

If not, I'll do it then start a new thread.

If so, then I'm sure it could be done. Just gotta mod the heck out of the rear sub frame in order to mount it.

Wanna see this. You might be able to make an adapter to put the sc300 rear cover to the mkiii pumpkin to get the mount points back.

I would love to see this happen as the viscous lsd when the clutch plates are set up properly are an awesome diff to have!

True I'm looking at adapting the rear cover, and welding the front points on.

After that I think that the splines are the same between the diffs, which means the axle cups and output flange can be bolted on.

OK, Nitty-gritty time.

Both the MKIII and sc300 Toyota Differentials are technically eight inch diffs (Ring gear diameter). Toyota 8 inch diffs also have 30 spline axles.

They are both technically "G" code diffs, which have been used from 70's-mid 90's.

This is where the major similarity ends.

There are too many google jockies, so I am going to once again prove the net' zombies wrong (No one said a GTR32 drivetrain would fit into a 240sx, I did with hand tools. Look up "GTRs13")

The MKIII Pumpkin can be fitted to the sc300 but not without modifications.

MKIII on right (Wider), SC300 on left (Narrow 8" "G")

Cover flanges are almost identical minus the width difference.

MKIII Cups won't bolt up to sc300 flanges, but because it's a 30 spline axle both cars have...

...SC300 AXLES FIT MKIII CARRIERS!!! (Not perfectly, but the splines match)

All that has to be done is mounting, and driveshaft flange which also swaps over!

Take that, nay-saying lemmings! HAHA!!!

I am curious what you are going to do with the ear mounts? Good job thus far!

That's really the biggest issue I see. If you get it mounted in there it has to be able to withstand some serious driveline stresses that the mounting points and rear subframe were designed to absorb, especially when you're throwing a crapload of horsepower through the driveshaft.

I'd love to see this work but the SC/GS/MKIV diffs are very strong with or without an LSD installed. Adding a TRD 2-way or Kaaz 2-way is what most Supra owners above 500hp do anyway which requires money and work on par with fixing an SC's open diff. Using an MK3 clutch-type LSD isn't the best project option either unless you'd be willing to get a better aftermarket LSD installed anyway. TRD LSD's for those MK3 diffs are far superior to the factory units except for the last couple of years of production (91-92 were Torsen IIRC). MK3 diffs are a better swap into IS250/IS350's and IS300's. I'm not certain but the FR-S may also use that style casing as well.

With the fabrication and means of doing this it would be very cool to see it work. It'll just be a LOT of work. I'd never attempt it but I'd love to see someone figure it out. I just think it might require a subframe swap or custom subframe with re-engineered suspension geometry.

Not at all, since the rear covers (Which also acts as a mounting point) do not swap over from the width difference, only two holes need to be drilled on the stock subframe to facilitate mounting. No re-engineering of suspension geometry because there never was a change to it.

The SC300 axles fit in the MKIII Carrier, the driveshaft flange swaps over, and all one has to do is mount the actual pumpkin where the front ear mounting solution is the most difficult.

Buying a KAZZ for the Narrow G diff is a waste of money if this can be implemented with little effort.

If you re arrange the clutch plate configuration in the lsd unit then this can be a real kick *** unit but factory configuration sucks.
