Why somewhat?

The valve arm opened in the opposite way on the Ford piece.
OEM valve opens when it senses vacuum. The Ford valve opens when vacuum stops.
I did get it to work by flipping the arm on the Ford piece to the opposite side and used the OEM arm plus a random screw as a new "arm."
OLT. what are your thoughts on this?

He just used the vac line that pushes instead of pulls. You can just use a different vac line associated with the heater controls, or hell flip the arm around. It's $350 cheaper, make an effort. LOL.

Agreed. All credit still goes to O.L.T. for this mod. Saved me a bundle.

I'm willing to try this of course, anyone have a completed install with before and after pics so I can use that as a reference to popping what lines where on this thing?

Since a few people requested pictures and I had the valve off the car, here is what the modifications I did look like.
Nothing crazy. Just used parts that were already on the car or were laying around on the floor of the garage anyway

You did a great job! You might want to attach those photo's so they never disappear.

I'll see if I can snap a few installed pics. I didn't think they would be necessary since its a direct replacement for an existing piece that's already on the car. Just find it, unplug it and throw the new one in. If you're not sure where it is, look up the FSM for the car.

There is no electrical piece on the new valve. Just keep the old one.

Thanks,
Sid

So this thread is a little confusing. So the op makes it seem like swap and go, but theres posts of reversing things, adding screws...Can someone who has done this post up some actual how to instructions. Like after putting the new piece on how to get the heat to work

As someone mentioned earlier, AutoZone has these under the Everco brand. I bought one but didn't like how it is reverse. It closes when there is vacuum instead of open. So I went to their website and look through ALL their heater control valves. Found four that might be an exact replacement:

Everco / Four Seasons (ebay):
74004 (1.8L - 2.2L Celica)
74636 (3L Siena)
74637 (1.6L Corolla and Geo Prism)
74641 (2L Celica and 2L-2.5L Camry)

Who has time or access to these to find the best match? My local AutoZone don't have these in stock.
