I want a little more power from my '96 SC300. I have some ideas but I figured it's best to ask you guys here since you guys know a lot about SC's.

I don't want to turbo it or do an engine swap. I'd have to pay for labor if I wanted that which would set me over my budget. I want something a little more simple than that.
What about cold air intake, headers, new exhaust?
BTW, I'm not looking for a 200 hp gain...

Sell your SC300 and buy an SC400. Might even be able to make a profit!
This thread reminds me of that scene from Family Guy joking about the $6 million dollar man.
"We can rebuild him, we have the technology... but I don't want to spend a lot of money"
(see Peter running down the street with a trashcan for a leg, magnifying glass for an eye, and a rake for an arm)

BFI is next to useless for a 1j/2j.
so dont bother - the main restriction for the turbo charged engines is the exhaust but its designed in such a way to control the boost pressure. and a bfi is almost negligable for gains so for a non turbo'd 2jz there definately wouldnt be any need.
As mentioned above, if you want to go turbo eventually, dont waste money now on headers, exhaust, etc as you have to get a whole new set of headers for a turbo, and well exhaust, isnt really that restrictive to begin with for a 2jzge
Id say just get your engine properly serviced, get its routine flushing, cleaning etc etc and that will be your best bang for your buck as you should be doing it anyways.
an LSD will be great, but there goes your 500-1000$ if you can find a proper diff (4.083:1 from a n/a mkiv supra automatic A01B is the diff code i believe for the supra or a02b for our sc's)
