Default 1JZGTE Wiring Question

I've already searched for this and there's so many threads about the 1JZ and about wiring that it gets hard to sift through. I just need to know how far to extend the harness and if anything needs to be spliced into my current ECU. I know this is a pain to answer to that it's probably been seen thousands of times but i couldn't find it

Okay is that all that needs to be done or am I repinning anything to the stock ECU? Sorry I also have a subaru where the swaps are really difficult to wire so I'm kind of confused by how simple this all sounds

that depends...what year is your car and what year is your engine? you may have to do some repinning for the starter to work properly

Okay what is the worst case scenario on the repinning? I already ordered the engine and like an idiot i didn't ask what year it is. All I know is that it's an Automatic Soarer non VVT-I. Any help would be amazing

it's a 1993 SC300 factory 5speed. I don't know if that last bit matters but I figured I'd include it anyway just in case

im assuming your going to keep the 5spd in the car? if so your probably going to need to find a 5spd 1jz ECU and either find a 5spd wiring harness or modify the automatic harness to work with the 5spd

other than that you shouldnt have to mess with much. the body plugs should be very close to plug and play

How would I have to modify the auto harness and ECU to work?

the automatic ecu has functions that the 5speed ecu doesnt. Such as functions for the shift solenoids, and the lockup solenoid for the converter, etc. The auto ecu is going to be looking for signals from these solenoids, if you use a 5spd trans they wont be there. Which is why i think at the very least your going to have to find a 5spd ecu.

the wiring harness is going to be different because of the transmission as well. Normally the neutral safety switch is built into the gear selector on the automatic transmission..... on a 5spd there is no gear selector and the neutral safety switch is under the clutch pedal IIRC. There also may be a slight difference in the speed sensors since they are in the trans as well. The wiring harness can be modified though, it might not be the easiest thing to do but it can be done.

you can run a auto ecu on a 5sp but not the other way around .. neutral safety plug is down by the tranny . it just takes joining a couple wires together so you dont press the clutch to start car .. speed sensors are the same in the trannies
