Noticed the temp gauge near Hot, popped the hood and heard a hissing sound but no leaking coolant. I figure it has cracks underneath it now but I'm currently searching for a new one.

When I bought my 95 SC400 in AZ, the coolant reservior was plastic welded around the entire edge. I was going to drive it home some 500 miles and didn't want the container to fail while driving home, so I replaced it. The plastic weld was coming off as well, it's hard to seal that kind of plastic as aformentioned. It's better to just replace the container. Use plastic weld on the Ford, but not the Lexus...

Used some regular JB Weld with high PSI rating a few weeks ago after the JB Waterweld stopped holding up. So far the other JB Weld is holding up much better!

I replaced the O ring on the sensor with a 3.5 mm instead of original . Smear a litte grease around hole on tank {not thread} and screw in tight by hand then with small blunt tool work your way around pushing o ring in tightening as you go . Then with multi grips or C spanner tighten rest of way . Do not over tighten . This has proved successful in fixing leakage . I noticed someone saying tyou have to replace tank . Codswhallop!!!

I just replaced the radiator with a 3-row aluminum and it has a pressure overflow outlet at the radiator cap (unlike the OEM radiator) I still have the original overflow tank installed -but it now has a safety backup at the radiator cap. I could also now use the SC3 style tank which is non-pressurized if I choose to. I already have picked up one -but chose to leave the original installed until it develops a problem. But it is unlikely that it will now.
