IMO the best mod you can do is a transmission cooler.

I see LS brakes in your future quite quickly. This upgrade can be had reasonably cheap and takes no longer than a couple of hours to install.

You won't able to add significant power, if any, on a small budget.
That brings me to, what's your budget?

Keep saving man, don't throw money at something you want be using. Money, more the merrier.

If the car drives just fine and is reliable as is, leave it alone until you are ready to do your swap. Focus all your money and attention to all the parts you'll need for the swap, trust me, there's a lot of little things that will bug you.

One thing you could consider is your exhaust, you can build it from the muffler all the way up to your downpipe area. That way once the motor is in all you'll have to worry about is a small section of your exhaust.

For 3k I can get my 1j swapped in. But I'm on the verge of rebuilding that and getting that machined and stroked. I'm converting it to a single turbo

^, there's tons of threads with the 1J versus 2J debate. Don't think we need another.

You can do a 1JZ swap with W58 for $3000 no problem.
