Sc400;The 1JZ Swap Adventure
Hey everyone,
Aaron from Alberta Canada writing you guys my build thread.
This thread is also dedicated to helping those who want to do a 1jz swap in their sc400. I havent found any threads where people have done it and have a list by list, parts by parts, swap guide.
So let me begin by saying, Im in the first stages. I pulled the 1UZ out today, which sucks by the way. As progress is made Ill continue to update!!
Huge thanks goes out to Tyler Leidal, Anthony Foley, and Matt Schoop for the huge help they gave me. As well as everyone on the club lexus forum who I have been pm'ing with my questions!
We finally got the motor to the point where it had to be taken out, or so we thought.
Ran into some big problems with wiring, exhaust, extra little bits and pieces, o and did I mention wiring? WOOOOOOW. What a son of a buiscuit that was.
Anyways, we FINALLY figured out all the wiring, pulled everything off, and was left with a new motor. 10L Schwieger.
So at this point, my advice to anyone is, 1UZ is easy to take out, but if your mechanically r-e-t-a-r-d-e-d like I am, its not that easy. A lot of wires to pull from the tranny, a lot of wires to pull from the motor, the driveshaft sucked, and im also a giant so I have troubles getting into tough to reach places(thats what she said?)
Here is what we were left with.
Big, gross, V8.
Anyways, as things sit now, I will keep you updated.
Im picking up a Soarer for parts with full wiring harness, ecu, driveshaft, blah blah blah.
If anyone has any knowledge as to things I will need to keep an eye out for when swapping, umm do I need to rip my exisiting wiring harness out and start fresh with the 1jz wiring harness?
Thanks everyone for looking, hopefully this will lead to bigger and better things for the sc4!

Yes. Been there, Though I pulled the V8 By myself 1 night.Tough but not too bad.
Lowering & Dropping the 1J/R154 in alone...Not do-able.
-- - - -- To Do list - - - - -
1: as far as wiring/Don't make it as Hard as EVERYONE ELSE does on this Site.Do not believe everything you read also. Its Very scattered Here.
2: you do not have to do what everyone does.(pay $500 for wiring job)
Purchase a patch harness for Fitment and Wiring Mods needed.$120
I was able to not extend anything but the body wire Inside the car.ECU sits Perfectly.
If you remove the Big plastic cap inside the Manifold to cover the wiring,..you can Strech the wiring to work w/o Cutting all 43,988,890 Wires.Just Wrap it good with tape and Get some thermal Wrap like I did.
REMEMBER: Only way to Get the car to Run when your done (SC400) is to Move Both Blk w/ orange Stripe Wires to a 12v switched Source.Wires are located on the inside 1JZ wiring that plugs in near the pass door.
Everything else is cake. (looking back)

Thank you to both members, this swap really shouldnt take me long, only sourcing the 5 speed and parts will take me the longest.
Quick update, figured I tried and fit in like everyone else and be cool.
Its tiled a little as you can see. Thats on purpose, originality is key Little sideways never hurt anyone.

he ended up losing his job and selling the car to one of my buddies. I ended up putting the motor back in for our buddy and sold it to another buddy of mine lol. He's deciding to leave the v8 in it and just moderately build the car that way.
