Default 1jz swap, dropping fuel guage needle?

for those of you with a 1jz swap, does your fuel needle drop to empty after you turn the car off?

No mine does not, but I think some people's do depending on how it was wired.

Edit: oops, didn't realize this was a really old thread

That's cool I'm still looking for input on this.

What year is your sc? Mines a 95

I wonder if the year model makes a difference, or I know some soarers had a digital guage cluster which could cause some issues I'm sure

Mine's a 93, I don't think anything changed between 95 and 93 other than the newer front bumper and tail lights. Mechanically and electronically it was all the same, except the fog lights. So I don't know what would cause the difference in the fuel gauge reading.

Is it a big deal to you that people think your car is empty if they look inside while it's off? haha

You'll know, it drops to empty probably within an hour or so.

There are a few wiring differences, the PCB in the cluster is different too. It's not a big deal but it's not how it acted before the swap and I was wondering if I had something wired wrong or if it was normal.

I tried swapping the actual fuel level sensor in the tank last night and it still dropped after turning the car off.

Since i first started this post i also have swapped to an aristo harness and jdm 2jzgte ecu

while i was doing the swap the cluster went to lextech for a stock rebuild.

I also had to do the resistor bypass mod to get the tach working (im suspicious this may have something to do with it)

im curious if other 1jz swaps with 95-96 clusters have this issue
