Thought i made a thread on this before lol but actually just mentioned it in a thread about the garbage X-runner 6 speed..
ScottURnot mentioned a guy in AUS doing it though
As awesome as the V160 is, I would really like to see 2jz/1uz owners get some kind of T56 adapter kit going, used T56's are so cheap compared to V160's Brand new T56's are still almost half the cost of a used V160..
A V160 may be bulletproof, but a T56 will hold 700WHP no problem and can take some abuse!, and are plentiful!!!
it'd be nice to have T56's as an option, 2jz owners already use Chevy TH400's so whats the big deal..
V160 clutch prices are insane as well!

I think were overlooking something here. from the description it seems that the t56 bellhousing is not used. so you can't use those lengths for the T56 directly to fit the shifter in this case.
to figure out shifter length here:
unless I got it all wrong, this adapts the t56 to a toyota automatic bellhousing, so it will definitely change the length of the transmission.
so i think we need to compare the length of the (auto bellhousing + adapter plate) to the bellhousing of the T56.
the difference of the 2 would be added or subtracted from the total length. right???
that number we need to try and get as close as possible to the Ideal SC length (someone said 29" above).

Damn this sux the thread got moved to this section oh well, got a reply back from the Aussi guys.....
"Hi Kevin,
The JZ setup is just about completed.
What would you like to know mate ?
It ONLY takes the Camaro Internal Slave ( Concentric ) T56, it does not suit the Mustang etc with the cable clutch.
You have a choice of,
Twin Organic Clutch
Twin Metalic Clutch
Both are good for Street / Track, depending on the drivers needs.
Of course the organic is nicer on the street.
All I need to ship from Australia is,
Flywheel
9" Clutch System ( Which will be backed up in the USA very soon )
Adapter Plate
Driveshaft Yolk / Uni / Weld End
Rest of the parts I can advise of where to get in the USA, depending on the application of the install.
Regards,
Neil Griffiths
Director."

2jz+t56
oh boy this is awesome news. me and my bro talked a lot about putting a t56 behind the 2j. now after many folks saying to just stick with the v160 we have a much cheaper option. so do we need to use the ls1 camaro or can we use any of them? can we get a comparison with the viper tranny for the length?

I found a pic of someone that had the adaptor plate already and had it for sale on SF
Now I was reading around and some guys had posted saying that the MUSTANG T56 has overdriven gears for 5th and 6th thus making it pretty much kaka for higher speed. BUT the Aussi guys say that you MUST use the CAMARO T56. Is it because of what has been said about the Mustang T56 to be true ? Is it possible that other Chevy type T56's have this weird 5th and 6th ?
NAME: Ben Zavitz

PRICE: $300 shipped obo
DESCRIPTION: Brand new adapter plate made to attach an LS1/Viper style T56 up to a JZ engine. i mounted it on the transmission once. the bellhousing is in good shape, just not quite so new. afaik this is one of 6 of these plates that were made.
