I used the same kicker and I want to say I raised the sub up till it cleared because I didn't want to cut into the car. also make sure that if you cut the car you will still clear the gas tank as the sub will sit lower, because if you cut the car and have to raise it to clear the tank, that would be a fail.

The only reason I bought this sub, was so I could use it in the factory location with the cover to make it look like OEM. It looks like a tight fit, but I think it'll barely clear the gas tank after cutting the rear deck.

The stock opening is 7.75" in the rear deck, and I need it to be 8.5-8.75" for the sub to go down all the way. The best way to make it work is to cut the rear deck and create a thin spacer with a MDF ring on the top. That way I can seal the sub opening with dynamat. I'll have to wait on this until I can get a pneumatic metal nibbler before I start cutting up my car.

I was still able to use the stock cover, there was enough clearance but it has been a while and am a bit fuzzy on all the details of what I did.

I ended up having to cut the rear deck to roughly 9"x10" oval in order to get the sub to fit. I had already started cutting, so I was committed to finishing this project. The metal was easy to cut and is very soft, so it warps easily. Now that I'm done, I wouldn't recommend doing this. The sub barely clears the gas tank by 2 or 3mm. Building something like lexxium made on the previous page would be the best option.

This is the end result once everything was reinstalled.
