Default My new fall/winter project

So I picked up a spare 1UZ over the weekend from a guy in Alabama, said the car had 118k but couldn't get a title for it, so he just parted it out. He doesn't know when the timing belt was done or anything like that, so I'm just going to replace all the outer gaskets (valve cover, front cover, rear main seal, crank seals, etc) and do a timing belt/water pump job. I'm going to paint the intake manifolds a nice dark graphite, or primer black type color and do the valve covers and things the same. Pretty much any aluminum part I can get off fairly easily, I'm going to clean it up and paint it to look nice, then put it all back together.

I got the intake manifolds off today so I could clean out the valley between the heads and check out the starter. The lower manifold had Fel Pro gaskets and I could see where a bolt holding the wiring harness underneath the intake was missing, so it's a good guess that the starter has already been replaced, or something down there. It's still a Denso starter so it's either the original, or an OEM reman unit. I'm probably going to replace it anyways for the hell of it and try to get a few bucks for the one that's on it. I'm going to replace the knock sensors as well, which will suck since they're $150ish a piece

Too bad I don't have $2500 so I can just replace the intake manifolds with a roots blower unit. At least I have IMF headers I can replace the stock exhaust manifolds with

Got the lower intake manifold cleaned up and painted with black caliper paint. The pictures aren't the best as they were in my garage last night with an old Sony digital cam, so pardon the lower picture quality.

I'm going to sand the areas where the fuel injectors go in before re-assembly of course, but I think the lower intake came out great. I'll do a mixture of gloss black and burnt copper metallic on the upper intake as well as the valve covers and various other removable parts. The injectors are going to get cleaned tonight and have new o-rings and seals put on in a few days from my good buddy in Louisiana that works on many Toyotas and is a former Jag master mechanic.

The timing belt/water pump job is coming within a week or two probably from Toyolex Parts. Can't beat $250 for the water pump w/ gasket, timing belt, two pulleys, tensioner, 2 cam seals and 1 front crank seal.

It's a 93 SC400 with 200k on the stock motor now. Yeah, I'm going to 5 speed it, just want to get the motor freshened up and looking good before I start hunting 5 speeds, flywheels, 5 speed pedals, etc.
