Default Removing Exhaust Sensors '95 SC400

I thought i had a leaking gasket (downstream end of cat converter). As I disassembled the joint to replace the gasket, I discovered that I have a crack in the exhaust pipe. There are two sensors (right & left) in the exhaust. If I decide to repair or replace the pipe, should I take the sensors out from the exhaust pipe or from the car side (it looks like they go through the floor near the transmission tunnel).

Also, are there any other factiods i should know about removing/reinstalling those sensors?

Thanks from (HOT) Birmingham, Alabama.

Default there 02

i think your refering to the 02 sensers, there are 2 in front of the CAT and 2 right after the CAT, you need th 02 or you will get a check engine light, and your car will run a lil funny

PS there expensive too, so be carefull with them

they are the two sensors after the cat converters. They are threaded into the sides of the exhaust pipes. Do they just unscrew? Do you need any kind of sealant to reinstall them? Any special handling required?

Yes, they just unscrew the normal way. And do not touch the nipple end that sticks into the pipe. You can re-use the old ones or buy a new set from Autozone, Pepboys, etc. The Bosch units have worked good for me in the past on other vehicles.

I would re-install them if you replace the pipe. ANy exhaust shop will have the "weld in O2 adaptors" for around $8 each plus probably a buck or two to drill a hole and weld them in for labor.

Good luck

If you are trying to save the O2 Sensors. Do not use WD40 or any other lubricant to break them lose. That lubricant will spread to the O2 Sensor and kill it.

They just unscrew. Sometimes you can get them lose right after you shut the car off but be careful.

Default nah

nah no special sealant, they unbolt fairly easy. the muffler shop should be able to do all that for you.

as for pepboys or autozone on the 02 sensors they dont carry them, well atleast here when i looked about 3 months ago, i went to the dealer to get the sensors.
