I'm looking to do this swap on my Soarer. If someone can guide me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated
I found some info on the 2JZ swap, but the V160 swap seems to be more rare.

^^^like they said but to be honest if you have the money to go v160 do it cause the difference between r154 and v160 is not comparable. The r154 shifting is just like the w55 and w58 just can handle more horsepower. The v160 is like butter. Good luck with whatever you do

half of you are wrong on the whole trans tunnel thing.
If the car has a older type shifter (early soarers with r154, and early sc300 with w58 up to '94) you will probably want to modify the tunnel/hole as the v160 uses a remote shifter and the hole is further back.
If your car has a remote shifter (later soarers with r154 and sc300 with w58 from '95-'97), the tunnel is already correct cause your car came with a remote shift type transmission, and is just like the tunnel on a 6 spd supra.

You really don't have to remove the tunnel you can make the stock tunnel work..
The best way of doing it is replacing the tunnel if you have 92-94 manual and all the auto cars 92-2000 .

To do it properly and to keep excess noise / heat out of the cabin you SHOULD do the tunnel swap and get all the proper boots and covers..yes its true you can just hack the stock tunnel, but its a shoddy job
