Default Powerhouse racing 2JZGTE/6spd conversion

Anyone have this done? What is the estimated cost? Any unforeseen problems that popped up? Thx.

Jarrett quoted me a maximum of 16K (since the 6spds vary incost), but thats pretty much stock i believe, BPU 400RWHP. I plan on getting the swap in the near future.

Clint Pohler is the only person I know of who has gotten the swap from PHR.

$16k? lol
Man I wish I worked there so I could make money by ripping ignorant people off.

Do the swap yourself for about $4k. The wiring harness is identical except for 2 or 3 additional wires that need to be run... the mounting points are the same. The only difficult part would be swapping in a manual tranny in place of an automatic.

For $16k you could have a SC300 that made about 700rwhp from the stock 2jz-ge and it'd be JUST as reliable. For about $7k you can have around 400-450rwhp for a single turbo onto a 2jz-ge.

Go read about all the options in the SC board area.

Maybe Titan will have a similar conversion as well? Right now I'm looking at 15k to do my car but that is 6 spd / OEM shortblock / T78 / Standalone. Working at a shop has it's benefits but I don't see how it could be 16k for a swap.

I think 16k is cheap for the conversion.
2jz-gte motor alone goes used for 4-6k
tranny's go for 2-3.5k used
front mount 1k,
custom intercooler piping isn't cheap,
custom drive shaft
supra rear end is going to be hard to find.
supra ECU
BPU is boost controller, downpipe, exhuast right?
boost controllers manual cost about 80 bucks
custom downpipes for a lexus?
exhuast for a SC300 cost roughly between 800-1100 or you can go custom and save you a few bucks
FCD - fuel cut defensor or greddy BCC
If I'm not mistaken, you have to get a aftermarket radiator

wow lots of things to think about oh yeah you guys didn't think about clutch? that's only a few more hundred

Is this worth saving a few bucks and downtime?

PHR and Performance factory of NYC have done a few of these swaps. If it was easy as everyone says they wouldn't be charging so much. This isn't an oil change that you do in your garage.

Jarrett would use a new or used tranny depending on what he can get and what the customer would want. A new tranny is 6k alone (without clutch and assy).

half the stuff you just mention is BPU stuff

Supra rear-ends are NOT hard to find; they are everywhere
custom driveshaft is maybe $100

your pricing is ALL wrong for the driveline parts...

trannies usually go for around $1000-$1500, long block 2jz-gte for around $2.5k-$3.5k depending on mileage

16k is a RIPOFF... I'll be saying this until I die and get buried 6ft under in a wooden box 16k for a 2jz-gte swap is a RIIIIIPOOOOFFFF

if you're talking about NEW parts, well 16k is prolly a good deal; but then again, PHR doesn't use new longblocks either
maybe new trannies, but usually used

yes you can do this in your garage, you just need a engine hoist and some good tools... phil auldrige sells a manual for the entire conversion... its not really that complicated at all...
you guys think that **** is complicated? you have no idea; go check out some kit cars; THATS complicated

obviously your thinking about the 5 speed tranny

check the supraforums for a 6 speed tranny cheapest used one you can find is 1900

check again for the motor with harness and ecu
this isn't a honda motor where you find at any junk yard

the drive shaft is a two peice and it's not 100..have you called up toyomoto?

the rear end it might be easy to find

I'm just telling you the facts...don't be fooled by internet racers!!! if it was that easy, why would you pay 7g's for a toyomoto stage 1.5 kit ...if you can do a so called simple swap for a little more and have more hp

give me a break ... is that why you still have your ge motor in the car?

how about everyone else? how many people have actually done the swap with the book? i'm sure everyone's bought the book, but still looking for parts.

I dont see the point in getting the swap unless you are going for huge hp numbers. For the 7k you spend on a toyomotor turbo setup the 2jz-ge makes around 400-450 rwhp on pump gas. And around 550 on race gas. Paying 16k for a swap will give you about 400 on stock turbo's. Then you would have to pay another 9-11k for a big turbo upgrade. If you have the $$ go for it. Otherwise why not just turbo the N/A motor for a fracion of the cost.

Default SC300/Supra TT Swap

Speaking from experience, the 2JZGTE swap into a lexus SC300 is not that easy. It takes alot of time, patience, and of course $$$.
There are more than a few wires that are different from the Lexus and alot of customizing. Do not try this alone.
Check out www.lexussc300.com in a few weeks to see the details and pics of the conversion.

Well,
I'm still considering the entire GTE and 6spd swap. However, what type of horsepower will the 5spd handle? Can't remember who, but they've burned through a bunch of 5spds.
Seems like a bunch have done one or the other, GTE and kept the 5spd or
GE with a turbo and added a 6spd.

By the way smooth8, looking forward to the pics and details of the swap!

I'm not looking to cut any corners on the swap, I'm willing to spend the money to do this correctly, I just want to make sure I get what I need for the complete setup.

On a side note, I intend on going with the AEM EMS instead of the stock ecu out of a tt. It will end up being more cost effective, by eliminating all of the piggyback items, afc, vpc, etc. While adding great tuning and other features like datalogging.

I think I've pretty much read every thread on the swap here at CL and over at Supraforums. I just don't think there are really any threads that clearly detail the steps and the parts needed.

Sorry, just thinking out loud here.

I highly suggest calling a competent shop and asking them to detail exactly what you would need. I mean, before dropping $16,000 or whatever the cost, I would require a detailed list of the parts going in the car.

Good luck.
