Default What do you guys do about heat in the engine bay

I have been having some heat issues for a long time.
93 SC400 No A/C with 2JZ Single Turbo, and in the cabin it gets about 110 degrees no Joke maybe more.
I can't drive the car under 70degree weather because she doesn't hook at all, break loose up to 4th gear seriously, so i can only drive it in hot day and my engine bay is always on fire.
My car doesn't have an Exhaust it open DP, and the Vaccum hose from the heater valve to the intake, boost guage, wiring harness protectorstarted to melt and this is really driving away from the car everyday.
My question are:
Did coat your manifold, DP and Exhaust housing? what did you use?
I don't wanna heat wrap my manifold and DP!!!
Did you wrap you heater hoses? what did you use?
What do yall think i should do?

Thanks for you input.

pfff....well, right there is a huge contributor to your problem.

my questions are:
Did coat your manifold, yes- came ceramic coated, but still wasn't nearly adequate.
dp and exhaust housing? no
what did you use? turbo blanket and then titanium heat wrap on header and dp
i don't wanna heat wrap my manifold and dp!!! why not ????????
did you wrap you heater hoses? didn't have to
what did you use? nothing was necessary after containing the heat in the system.
what do yall think i should do? first, finish your exhaust and then try a blanket and then some heat wrap (get over it!), as necessary, in that order.

thanks for you input.

Thanks for all the inputs.

Ed i am running too much timing but i will get that fix going back for retune Sunday, let see how that goes.
I am ordering the BL blanket and my .96 housing coated.

I don't wanna use the header wrap because if you one drop of oil on it your car it total loss. I saw it happen to someone i know so it's a no go for me.
I didn't wanna put an exhaust on my car at first , but now i i may consider getting it done.
Trust me car sounds ridiculous w/o the exhaust but it's the drivebility that count and that car is not driveable so you are 100% correct.

Thanks guys.

Finish the exhaust for sure, but I don't like header wrap. Maybe a blanket on the turbo, but header wrap on a manifold and piping accelerates fatigue and will eventually crack your tubing/welds. Now if you are full stainless that becomes less of an issue, but mild steel for sure will suffer under wrap.

my engine bay temps get really hot aswell, and im on stock turbos! im going to put washers to space the hood so it has a little bit of a vent on the rear, maybe itll act as a defroster too. haha, but seriously my temps get sooooooo hot. hell dont come near my exhaust TIP or it WILL melt your shoe, like it did mine.. aswell as my leg

The #1 cause from a majority of the heat is the open DP. I drove my SC with an open DP for about 3 months, and once the exhaust was installed, temps dropped by at least 50*. Add a turbo blanket, and wrap the DP, take the plastic crap out from under the car and your back to being close to stock temps under the hood.

yeah Omar you gotta finish that exhaust bro thats probably like 50% of it at least and also check on the computer what your coolant temps are getting up to, the engine could be running hot without the shroud on those electric fans. lemme know when your day off is I have been dying to come see it but have had literally no free time lately.

+1 for not running header wrap, I lost my turbo blanket once to an oil spill from my feed line and It would pour smoke non-stop, basically burnt the darn thing to a crisp, eventually had to junk it cause it cause I was afraid it would catch on fire.
So if you are running one keep it clean and if you do get a spill take it off asap.

What Platic crap are you talking about?
I also need to wrap my wiring harness !! what do you use for that?

ALi i am getting my exhaust done by Friday because i will be busy Moving this WeekEnd,
Come over and check it.
I need my timing adjusted, so i can turn up the boost to 21lbs, i have been trying to get ahold of you man.

Oh!! Chris i have removed all the shield and linings on front.
I am running some electric fans and i set them up as pulling fan and blow all the hot air in the cabin.
