Default SC300 Tech Help needed - Alternator Plug routing

Guys,

So I picked up this OBD1 sc300 swap from Gazi for my 87 Supra. I stripped it down for a rebuild - yadda yadda yadda.

So for the life of me.. I cant seem to find where my alternator plug is routed. Granted I don't remember taking it off. Its was not on the harness. I ordered a new plug and pinned it up, but I cant find ANYWHERE on the Engine harness where the three wires (yellow/green, yellow, white) are suppose to route. I peeled back the engine harness to under the injectors and I cant find any cut wires. All the existing wires are accounted for and have homes on already plugged in sensors.

I tried tracing out my 2JZGTE harness in my MK4 and the plug is routed in the engine harness there, but NOT on the 2JZGE

Can someone assist me perhaps with a pic or two? I have a suspicion that the alternator plug leads may be on the chassis harness. (just no proof yet)

If anyone can alsis tell me what each wire does on the plug... I will be greatly in yoru debt, as I will be reading my supra factory manual for the rest of the evening to try to sort this out.

Thanks,
Rich

SO i read the wiring diagram like I said I would

P.68 of the 2JZ wiring diagram outlines the charging system.

the three wires go to as follows,

Alternator Plug - Pin1 (Y-G) goes to Pin34 of II1(big orange 38pin connector by ECU)
Alternator Plug - Pin2 (Y) goes to Pin23 of II1(big orange 38pin connector by ECU)
Alternator Plug - Pin3 (W) goes to Pin2 of EA3 plug (Black 3Pin connector Eng Fuse Box)

I think I can easily wire that up.... I'd still like to know where the damn OEM harness is!

Thanks for the link. The funny thing is, that is my EXACT problem. I swapped an engine in and CANNOT find the damn alternator wires on the harness. Maybe other year GE engines have a separate designated harness for the alternator? I dont know. But this sure does help. Thanks again.

I'm still having a hard time understanding this, I have a 92 SC300 but I only have a 95+ alternator and I want to change my harness-as I don't have money for a 92 alternator. Which wires do I use to wire it up?

You can search online or at parts stores. There is a company(s) that makes a adapter harness to go from the 5 wire to the 3 wire alternator and vice versa.

Some people have the opposite problem as you, and are wanting a 95+ alternator. You might try making a thread about a trade for the correct alternator for you, and someone may want to trade. Worth a try anyway....

Rise from your grave!

So on a sc300 there is a plug under the hood that used to run the alternator. 7 wires, round.

Then on the 1jz, there is a separate ALT plug.

What wires on the ALT, go to what wires on the Round underhood body plug on the SC?

This topic has NOT been clarified.

I was mistaken, the plug I was thinking is the MAF plug that only gets 5v. Alternator plug in on the Drivers, side.

Thanks!
