Default spdrcr771's 98 SC430 1.3UZFE

Ok so about a month ago I installed my new S&S headers & 30min after install I was TESTing my car on the way home & SHE gave up on me. I spun #6 bearing. This is my DD, & I didnt know what I was gonna do, other that it had to be fixed. So it took me about a week to figure out what direction I was going in. I posted on lextreme "help help just broke motor what to do?". David Phan "Lex" pm'd me & told me that he had a LS430 short block for sale. So after alot, alot, of pm'ing & talks on the phone, he had me convinced that this was the way I should go, especially for a DIY guy. I didnt really want to buy a 98-00 SC400 long block for $1500 and still not really know what I had there. If im gonna do a motor on a bike or car I like to go to the bottom of the motor & see just exactly what I have before I start fresh. Being able to buy just a short block was the key & then on top its a little UPGRADE at the same time. Two days ago I wouldnt be able to tell you this, but this is a 100% bolt on block swap. When I talked to Lex today he told me that I am the very 1st person associated w/Lextreme that has done this swap. I mean if you have time & money, doing the 2uz swap & done right would be better. This was quick (4weeks) solution to my problem & a good excuse to have a build. I also did a few other upgrades while I was there. I installed a Megan Supra standard aluminum 3 core radiator, since I already had a B&M tranny cooler. I also at the last minute decided to go with a Lextreme Torque Converter w/a 2800 stall. I wanted just alittle more than stock, since Im a road racer, more than a drag guy. Heres the pics & a youtube exhaust clip @ the end.

2 pics of spun bearing, notice all the other rods are golden & 6&7 are black & there is not suppose to be a gap on the rod cap.

98 SC400 vvt-i pistons, heads, & intake manifold (inside).

Couldnt find any autoparts store's that had this spanner tool for sale to do this task. So I bought this here spanner wrench/peg board hammer holder to do the job.LOL & I bought a hammer.

?? LS430 block,piston pics.

New water pump & oil pump, cause your there.

Decided to get the cam gear covers & the valve covers powder coated too.

Had to do alittle modding to make the hydro fan bolt up to the radiator.

And she's done.

There's only one more thing to get. She needs a new badge, she's not a 400 any more.
