Default Cel 12 & 14

ok so on my other thread i was having a hard time starting the car after driving for 15+minutes and wouldn't rev past 3K rpms. CEL 12 is rpm signal and CEL 14 is ignition signal. i'm guessing this could be the reason why. i did recently bought a new/refurbish distributor and running the 4 runner cap that i got from Advance Auto parts. if i were to install the distributor wrong, maybe off a teeth or so, will it be doing what it is to my car or maybe the distributor itself is messed up? or maybe the igniter or ignition coil might be bad, how can i test them?. remember the car will start, you just have to keep cranking it. how and where do i fix the CEL 12? this is on a obd1 btw...
