Default sc400 burning too much gas, oil light like goes on them back off

what could the problem be??

My car seems to be burning too much gas. my mileage is horrible
when I start the car there is a very strong fuel smell
The cel comes on when i start the car but usually goes away when the car is running at normal operating temperature. I pull the codes 24 and 31.

Also my oil light goes on then off at random times. it doesn't stay on. does that mean I'm low in oil?? I'm pretty sure I have a leak somewhere and I think it's time for me to find out where that is.

what could cause these problems. any help would be great.

Codes 24 and 31 seem to point to a bad afm/maf. What kind of air filter do you have?
The oil light usually indicates that you are low on oil or your oil pump is going.

The Fram air filter is a dry type? If it was an oil type of filter my guess would have been the oil getting onto the internals on your afm/maf.
