1.5jz parts list
After owning my 94 SC300 for about 2 years or so maybe alil longer, i want to boost it! I been on the forums for a while, i have done my research, ive learned alot about 1JZ,2JZ, and NA-T setups and im sure some people kno who i am, im not a noobie sooo plz dont be blunt and say the search button is my friend
Anyways, I bought my SC before i even knew about Club Lexus, it was completely stock, throughout these years i have done alot of other goodies to the car, such as Maintenace,Suspension,LS400 BBK,Polished TT wheels,Auto<5spd swap,SC400 Lip,Exhaust, Etc..Etc
Ive always wanted to Boost my car and the time has finally come, I got a great deal on a complete 1J Longblock that i couldnt possible say no to, i kno a 1J swap is still alot better than the n/a 2J performance wise...Im a Believer in both motors the 1J and the 2J!
These are my plans i wanna run a 1.5JZ in my SC300 simply because i want the revs of a 1J but i still want the displacment and torque of a 2J, im trying to get the best of both worlds, but for now i will still have the stock twins, i have never come across someone running a 1.5JZ with stock twins, and my N/A 2J block, i dont wanna put in pistons or rods, i want my internals to remain N/A, my power goals are in between 350-400whp
Now that you guys kno what im looking for LMK what you guys think and help me get my list in parts together.
Thanks

I have been wondering when the time was gonna come when you finally took the next step..Im not of much help with the 1.5jz conversion, but I can say that from reading, your power goals can be achieved easily staying with a 1.5jz "bpu"...IMO, I would still go with a mid-framed single just to be safe..Im looking forward to this.

im also on the process of doing the 1.5j swap let me know if you need any info
also get rid of the twins go with a single.. sticking with the twins will choke the top end power.

What size turbo do you guys have in mind with a 1.5JZ, i want a turbo that i can have fun around the city, but still have good topend aswell.
Big enough for topend, but small enough for quick spool..
My thoughts a 60-1, or 6265.

99.99% of people never need to rev higher than 7000rpm which is perfectly fine for a 3.0L like the 2J. In order to have an engine combo that puts an 8-9000rpm redline to use, you'll need a very large turbo that will be VERY laggy on the street. Not to mention, contrary to a lot of the B.S. myths on the forum, the 1J head DOES NOT flow as well as a 2JZGTE head. In order for a 1J head to be efficient above 7500rpm, it will need some serious work.
If you want a rev happy motor, stay 2.5L, use a mid-large turbo and run it to 8k. If you want torque, go 1.5JZ, get a medium size turbo (<70mm) and enjoy a badass street car.
9krpm rev limits are for cars that CAN'T make torque down low (like 1.8L Hondas). You really don't need 9krpm when you can have near-peak torque from 3500-7500 with a 3.0L

I have a 1.5jz in my car. I am running a 67mm I think its perfect full boost around 4k-4.2k pulls very hard.
For the 1.5 you need a longer coolant passage tube from the head to the block since its an inch taller.
2jz timing belt
spacer for the dipstick to bolt up again
There is more I just don't remember it all right now. Look on Supraforums there is more info about 1.5jzs there.

The shorter stroke of the 1J is the reason it's rev happy (and the reason it's 2.5L). If you take that out of the equation, you basically have a 2J you're trying to rev high.
