Default Trick to removing SC300 distr cap?

I'm doing the distributor O-ring/alternator replacement.
I have the three screws all the way loose on the distributor cap, but it doesn't pull right off.
Before I smack it, I thought I'd ask if there are any tricks to getting it off (other than smacking it!).

TIA,
Jonas

Thanks.
A few taps (not really smacks) with the plastic handle of a screwdriver broke it free.
Not sure I've ever seen the tip of a rotor quite so eroded (92K).
Do y'all bother with a new gasket under the cap?

Since my local dealer doesn't have the gasket, I'm not replacing it either!

Truly annoying that the $5 distr shaft O-ring ruins a multi-hundred dollar alternator. FYI, $155 shipped (overnight!) for rebuilt from AlternatorPros, no core charge.

the o-ring gasket is located behind the dist. on the shaft going into the block. THAT's where you're o-ring is. I think it's held in by a single bolt, but before you remove it mark what position it's in so you don't have to screw with timing it.

StiCk3 -

Yup, got all that, thanks. The gasket I was referring to earlier is under the distributor cap. The Lexus manual calls it a "packing" and says it's not a reusable part. I was going to ignore that advice anyway, but since I had to make a trip for a new cap and rotor, I thought I'd get a cap gasket. They said they reuse them all the time (probably charge customers for a new one, though!).

I have the O-ring (and a rebuilt alt) from a previous shopping trip.
