I was driving on the highway the other day and when I was cruising at around 80mph, the engine was running at over 2000rpm. nothing changed when I would turn the overdrive switch on and off. The cluster showed overdrive off, but nothing else changed. Is this normal?

My OD was not working for a while and I do not remember the rpms exactly but without OD it was closer to 3,000 rpm at 60-65 mph. At 80 mph you would be well over 3000 rpm if you did not have OD.

If you are going too fast for it to downshift I won't. Try it around 50. Change gear = over drive working. No change = no work.

By the way I checked yesterday, in OD at 80 MPH engine speed is right at 2900-3000 rpm.
