Started my w58 swap.....wanted to share some pics.
Copy pasted of another forum...
The car's a 92 SC300, and I bought a (almost) complete five speed swap from a local salvage yard for $800.
I started by pulling the center console and stock auto shifter on my lunch break the other day, and today Iused a vaction day to make some decent progress. I'm a mechanic so having access to the shop and all my tools and the shop equipment was a real help.
did get to work on the car today, and I managed to snap some pics during the process:
First thing I messed with was the trans tunnel and making the hole for the shifter...This first pic shows how things looked after unbolting the auto shifter assembly:
Fortunately the SC already had the bolt holes for the shifters floor mounted dust boot, so I quickly eyeballed the dirty/clean pattern on the bottom of the cover and cut a quick hole in the trans tunnel...Also cut a piece of aluminum sheet metal to cover the auto shifter hole, rtv'd it and riveted it in place.
Pulled the auto tranny, installed the flywheel and clutch, then bolted the w-58 in place....this pic shows the bottom of the trans tunnel, and how well the tranny lined up (if you notice, the tranny mount is ripped completely in half....new one won't be here until thursday, along with a new nylon shifter bushing, both coming straight from Lexus:
Slave cylinder installed:
Driveshaft Basterdizing.....stock SC300 auto driveshaft and MK3 supra front driveshaft:
Carrier bearing swapped from SC300 front DS to the MK3 DS and fitted together:
Top shot of the tranny tunnel with w58 bolted up:
Same shot with the shifter....it's just sitting in the tranny...I'm going to hold off on reinstalling the center console till the new shifter bushing gets here.
(I'm still owed a SC300 5-spd driveshaft from the salvage yard, so the one pictured is the one I have for sale in the classifieds....it's sale is postponed until the salvage yard finds me one.)
I still have to instal the clutch master cylinder tmw, as well as the clutch pedal assembly and the brake pedal arm. Oh and the 5-spd instrument cluster as well....(got my fingers crossed that the needles might light up....my auto IC's didnt...)
And my BC Coilovers came today, so I'll finally get rid of the nasty wheel gap between the fenders and the 18" Battles.

Awesome job man... these type of DIYs are always cool to see. I'm waiting to see if anyone will have a solution for the CEL on SC400 VVTI manual conversion. Being in CA kinda sucks since smog techs will fail you if you do even tho its not "smog" related or is it? I'm happy with the auto tho but manual would have been a plus for me.

no, they bolt right up, the holes are already there. (except for one at the bottom....I drilled it after the clutch pedal/bracket was already installed and threw a bolt in it. The brake pedal arm you just swap for the 5-spd version.....leave the oem bracket.
