Default all you 1J swap guys, get in here!

What's up fellas, as you can see by my user tag, I'm formerly a GS guy. I sold it a year ago and I'm now in a Nissan Murano, but miss two of my previous cars far too much; the GS (01 300) and my 98 cobra (procharged). Through deliberation with myself () I've decided I want to get an SC and 1j swap it with a 5spd, so that I can get back the best of both of those cars and not worry about modding the murano (since there's **** out there for it).

My questions are (assume i have a full swap, IE engine, ECU, harness, 5spd trans):

1.) How hard is the engine swap itself? Moving motor mounts, etc. but is there any extensive fabrication to be done?

2.) Swapping a 5spd into an auto car (if i have to settle for a 400 or auto 300), how tough is it? What additional parts do I need besides master/slave cyl, pedal assembly, etc.?

3.) What is the stock 1j capable of pushing with lets say exhaust, intake, upping the boost and a tune? I want to stay away from major motor mods since I know I'll probably have to rehab the car itself.

Your input is greatly appreciated I've already started saving my pennies lol

with the 400 its the same as the 300 just need a new radiator and over flow for a 300 and a little custom work with the fuel lines nothing crazy. its all pretty much plug and play and the auto the 5 speed swap is really easy.

+1 the swap is pretty easy. No fabrication, and plug and play. I had never done anything more extensive than change spark plugs before, and my friend and I did the swap ourselves in a little over a week.

now what about the auto to 5spd? I'm thinking of using the w58 for ease of install and just beefing up the clutch/fw.

You can use the W58 with Good Clutch and should hold the power, no problem .
You will like it better than the GS, My GS is borring i am thinking about selling it.
Don't buy a 400 you will need the AC lines, P/S lines, Cluster, Radiator from a 300.
Its like you almost have to convert the SC4 to an SC3 and drop the 1JZ in there.
Few member are making 340wrhp on the stock twins 13-16 PSI, The Twins are nice and all but at certain point they are borring, i am being honest with you.
The 5 speed swap is not bad, just a lottle time consuming, once you get to the pedals.

yeah, I figured that about the 400...but when I can get one for (i'm pretty sure) $500 bucks, it's almost worth it to swap all that over especially since i'm sure I could find that stuff readily at any junkyard.

I agree with quickgs its almost as if you got to turn the 400 into a 300 then do the 1jz swap.. Most of us here in south fla get the 300 if they plan on doing the swap...

You know it's like you have to start all over, that's more money you have to spend.
If you're staying auto you will need a 300 DS.

You may get bored with the stock power after a bit. A couple guys have put down some really good numbers with bpu mods and a tune, but for the most part it seems single is the way to go. Hell, you could even go with a small single for street driving and still spool pretty quick.
