Headers installed /jet tuning? just wondering
I have a 95 sc400
BFI, no resinators, no mid cat (replaced with x)
Jet Performance tuned ECU
as of now IMF headers,
so now i have 2.25" exhaust all the way back to the stock mufflers.
should i send the ecu back to jet to get retuned post headers, probably gonna but is it gonna help loads
with the headers low end has inproved a bit, spins tire like crazy and trac comes on between 1st and 2nd and top end is actually responsive now above 100
the exhaust sounds mean as hell but not what im looking for i wanted a deep angry sound and my car sounds clicky, i know it doesnt have any cats but i didnt want that LS1 Drag strip clicky v8 sound, any ideas
Thanks guys

Millertime how did the IMF header install go?
I have some, just haven't got around to installing yet.
Any feel for time, money required, or install tips?
Did you use the gaskets that came with them, or other?
Thanks for any info.

I don't know about the ECU but put a pair of Magnaflows on the back and it will sound better. The stock mufflers are raspy.
Mine is IMF headers - no cats - Magnaflow tru-x muffler - pair of straight Magnaflows. 2.5 inch "custom" mandrel bends.
Mine sounded raspy with the IMF headers - stock piping w/o cats - aftermarket (small and cheap) resonators - pair of dyno max 3 chambers.

I've been thinking about taking out the rear Magnaflows leaving only the center tru-x muffler but I'm worried about drone.

Jetchip is crappy. Just save your money on a SAFC and tune it for better performance. SC400 with tuned SAFC is known to gain 10 rwhp and that's with stock header and intake. I sent an ECU from my previous Honda to Jetchip and the stock ECU relearned in 2 days. Waste of money. The thing about most chip is the chip companies don't know how your car behaves before header, after header, or its power curve. They just guess without having your car on a dyno or at least look at the true A/F ratio. They just put 1 same chip for every car. That's cheating.
The SC400 ECU is even more tricky to be touched.
If you want a deep tone angry sound from this V8 in addition to the X pipe, you can have free flow resonators and big fat mufflers. The exhaust sound will be deep and quiet at idle, but it'll roar without high pitch at high RPM.

Just wanted to point out also.
The stock ECU when in WOT/open loop mode, the A/F ratio is right on the dot at 12:1. I noticed this mainly when I was at the track. Drive the car hard enough and it will maintain that ratio throughout. After I pulled off the track, the A/F was still at 12:1, even at idle. It took the ECU about 5 minutes before it went back to closed loop and idle at 14.3-14.9.
FYI: here's my vid when I was at the track, not a raspy sound, but that's probably due to the resonators on the JIC catback.

IMF headers -> 2.5" magnaflow high flow cats -> 2.5" mandrel bent piping to a 3" center high flow cat -> to JIC catback
also... the auto tranny sucks! in the vid, i'm depressing the pedal to give 80-90% throttle only because if I gave it the full 100%, the engine rpms would only rise and the tranny would lag too long to downshift.

On my setup, it's possible that the tru-x muffler acts sort of like a resonator.

I'd say put a small resonator back into the exhaust shortly after the headers. That nasty drag strip sound you're referring to is caused by having nothing to deflect the soundwaves like a muffler would normally do. Stock mufflers probably aren't helping that any, id get your hands on some magnaflow units or similar

S&S headers all 2.5" mandrel bent pipe, Magnaflow X pipe, resinators and mufflers.
