IMF Headers, how good are the gaskets?
I'm about to have someone install my imf headers, however, I'm looking at the header gaskets provided by IMF and wondering if they are good enough to prevent exhaust leaks in the future. Once these headers go on, the last thing I want is for them to leak, because that pretty much says that I'll have to remove the headers again just to replace the gaskets. I've also heard that stainless steel headers tend to deform slightly due to hot exhaust temps, and this alone can cause exhaust leaks. Anybody?

$35 bucks to be on the safe side, I'm on it. I saw some gaskets on Ebay asking over $100 for the sc400, so I thouhgt it was super expensive just to by 2 gasket pieces at the stealership. But cool right on.

My IMF headers didn't come with any manifold gaskets, just the ones at the flanges. Within a week the passenger side one split open and was leaking. I know because I went to have a hole in my piping patched up and the flange was leaking too. So apparently their not that good.

that's roughly how much it is. it's around a whole day to get the install done. i was there watching them do it for a while and it really is a pain in the ****. taking off the oem headers is the hard part, putting on the IMF is easy. tightening down the bolts is also somewhat difficult only because it's hard getting into that part of the engine bay, even from the top. it looks like there's enough space to get in from the top, but don't forget gotta have space to wrench and turn. Putting the EGR onto the pipe is also one of those weird angle, location things. IMO, if you were to try it at home, it's gonna be at least a week to get done, especially if you're gonna do it on jackstands.
Also, I can guarantee they'll take care of you on it too. I can honestly tell you, that there is no way I would've been able to do it on my own in my garage with jackstands, and my level of skill mechanically, i can change suspension pieces, i've helped install turbo kits on 4 cylinders, but the headers really are a pita.
