Default Does your engine temp needle every skyrocket suddenly?

This was an issue that the car has when I first bought it. The car would not overheat, but the needle would just bounce all the way to the max. After I did the tune-ups and whatnot it went away, but now it happened again for the first time yesterday.

Now when I turn on my car the needle will constantly rise and rise and rise until its at the max. I know the car is not overheating because it does this within seconds of turning on the car. Besides, I have checked it with one of those computers and the temperature is fine.

Has this happened to anyone else? What could be the cause?

For some reason, today it has been normal... I wonder why this would happen. The idle was a little low, too, during the time that the needle was at max... The car was not actually over heating, though...

Check the 2 ground bolts on the bottom of the intake manifold on drivers side. I had mine loose, and the same thing happened to me.
