Default SC300 2JZ-GE Bottom End Question

Hi. my name is Sean. I am new to the forums here. I am about to be purchasing a Lexus SC300. There is a 92 and 93, both 5 speeds, that I have been looking at. The 92 is white and has around 135,000 miles and the 93 is gold and has around 122,000. Both car are bout same price.

Was wondering how much horse power the stock 2JZ-GE engines bottom ends can handle? I have heard that the older models 92-95 have stronger bottom ends than the 96+ years. Also curious on how much horse power the stock manual transmissions can hold? I have heard around 500hp stock bottom end for the engine.

I know there are other threads that have this question, but some have different answers and I have heard differences between the older and newer SC models. Thanks for the time.

You're thinking 98+ bottom ends. The VVT-i ones. Pre-98 are all the same afaik and they are strong and can hold plenty. Stock 5 spds are said to be good for about 400whp, but it's 3rd gear that shears, so it's more or less a tq issue.

Can the stock 5 speed hold that 400whp using the stock clutch or is an upgrade needed?

If it does hold it, it wont be for long. Go get a good clutch but in that power range I would recommend upgrading to a r154
