Default Dual fuel pump wiring question

To those of you with dual intank pumps....

Unlike the Supra, we do NOT have a plug that provides both power and ground to the fuel pump through the tank lid. On the SC the pump is grounded to the hanger and only a single 12v line is passed into the tank.

I'm installing my 2nd pump tomorrow (walbro) to assist my OEM denso pump. Please don't bring up the Walbro argument here....I've used them for years and 100,000 miles without issue.....

I would much prefer to run a 2nd power wire through the tank lid to supply the 2nd pump as the Denso sucks something like 20amps at ~80psi. My biggest concern is fuel vapor smell....So how to pass a 2nd power line through the tank lid and still maintain a seal?

The wiring outside the tank I'm fine with...already have the relay read to go.

The bulkhead to the tank has two wires running through it, a power and ground to the pump. I'm pretty sure the ground is isolated and you may be able to use it for power as well. If that's the case, then run the grounds from the pumps to the hanger.

You can buy bulkhead connectors to make it work. I've also seen people drill holes and fill them with an epoxy or silicone after running the wires through it.

nope I have a spare lid sitting here with the factory hanger. The ground is NOT isolated like the power is.

took a couple quick pics to show you what I'm looking at.

As for the epoxy...DaveH used JBWeld  but that is a race car and the smell of race gas isn't so bad after all

Yup, you're right. A bulkhead fitting would be the way to go.

i burned up a wire doing it that way. Thinking back to it, it was so long ago, I may have been stupid and wired a new feed back into a single feed post-fuel pump ecu...can't remember.

I haven't bothered trying to wire the second pump again. I am still within one pump's capacity and am certain the pump is a true walbro.

I welded four male -6 fittings on each side of the bulkhead. One pump to one side, other pump to the other side. -6 lines all the way to each side of the fuel rail. 3/8" return line on the stock feed line.

did you weld the bulkheads on top of the pump cover for the fuel lines, or did you weld the bulkheads on the tank? I can do either one, just seeing what is the best/easiest route

Welding the bulkhead seems redundant, but some people prefer it. I prefer buying a bulkhead nut that screws it tight on the pump lid; If you really want to be safe you can put o-rings in between the mating surfaces.

I don't know what you're planning to run with your fuel system, but the walboro won't cut it for high base fuel pressure. My fuel system will consist of a single fuellab pump and one -10 AN line. It will split into two -8 AN's at the fuel rail. Here's links to what I'm talking about. I'm planning on 800RWHP on E-85.

Bulkhead fitting- you can see the nut on the same page.
