HELP WITH RPM !! 1995 sc400

Exclamation HELP WITH RPM !! 1995 sc400

When i start my lescy it starts fine with NO PROBLEMS atall. However when the car start to regulate its tempurature i notice the RPM gauge starts to lower till the point where its all the way down the car runs, but there is a lag from complete stop to first gear. Feels like she should be faster.

Your idle is set too low.

Adjust the throttle cable. Scroll down in this link to the picture and under the cover with the letter E you can adjust it with a believe a 1/2inch open end wrench. Make sure to adjust the cable that comes from the driver side, one from passenger is for cruise control. just tighten that up until your rpms rise to 600-800rpms that is fine for operating temp idle.

I had a similar problem... the rpms would drop super low. it would happen especially when the AC was running and i would go to turn it off. the rpms would drop so low it would die sometimes. the car was running real sluggish. i have a 95 SC4 too... my fix was cleaning the throttle plate. ran good as new after that.

It sounds like your idle air control valve might be stuck open. Pull that out and see if the pin inside it is stuck open or you can tap the valve itself on the front of the motor and see if the idle changes. If that works clean it off first with carb cleaner and if that doesn't work you will need to buy a new IACV.
