My SC just took a dump. Any suggestions?
my 300 started idling slightly rough intermittently about 3 weeks ago, it even shut off on me once at a light but started right back up. Then it just seemed like it went away and the car ran fine. I was planning on having it looked at if it got any worse.
BAM
Last week, its started doing this again. but this time, badly. clouds of white smoke exiting the exhaust and the car even shut off on a couple different occasions at idle. Now when i go to start the car, it wont start sometimes.
When it does turn on...and i try driving it a little...the erratic rumble from the engine sounds like a fuucking V8 Camaro (not in a good way), and the car feels like it looses power when i accelerate on the gas pedal and is weezing for some strength. my SC has 178k on the clock.
Now I've checked...
the spark plugs -they're decent.
No oil leaks.
No CEL.
Nothing in the engine bay appears out of normal.
Are this signs of a blown head gasket, or worse?
to all you 300 gurus, any ideas?

+1 on the head gasket if all of a sudden a cloud of white smoke came out.... Cross your fingers man... Check the oil dip stick and feel the oil if there is water mixture.

Sometimes you wont see milky...and old school technique i learned is to pull the dip stick out and hold the end over a lighter. if it crackles at all there is water in there. You could also disconnect your ignition and compression test all 6 cyl. Possibly even try putting the drive train to TDC (maybe you jumped timing and you are getting oil blow by). Good rule of thumb is a head gasket wont produce white smoke under acceleration...but blown piston rings will at all time!

i have the same problem but with my 93 sc400... problem went away for about 1-2 weeks. came back yesterday. started the car yesterday and started idling rough and my rpm needle was jumping up and down from 500 and below to 1500. today i started it up again and it would do the same thing but this time the car would shut off. started it up again and same thing happen again. so I pulled the maf sensor plug out and started the car and it idled normal and was fine. put the plug back in and it was still running good. but im sure that the rough idling and car shutting down will happen again with the maf plugged because I did this when the problem occur the first time. (btw I bought a new used maf sensor). any help?
