Default Smart people...

...please chime in. My instincts tell me this is way too good to be true. What do you all have to say? I spoke to the seller a few times today and he did proceed to send me 3 cell phone pictures. The pictures were of poor quality. The engine came out of a USDM 94 Auto Supra that was hit from the back. According to the seller, he opted to disassemble and sell, rather than to fix it. Total mileage on the motor, according to the seller, is around 55k miles not the listed 82k miles.

Please chime in. Thank you smart folks!

For those of you that don't have a SupraForum account, here is the exact posting

Ad Description:

I'm trying to sell this Swap for a friend.1994 USDM 2JZGTE with 82,000 miles. Swap includes engine, auto tranny, ECU, harness, altenator, a/c compressor, & power steering pump. Swap is in Philadelphia. Asking price is $3500.

Would obtaining the VIN # of the vehicle help? What other things would you all suggest for further validation and verification? Thanks in advance

You can probably find a JDM 2jz for less than that, but I don't know what the smog laws and whatnot are in VA. For a USDM auto swap it seems like an OK price...but you can probably talk him down a little bit.

Update,

I've still not received the VIN#, and the seller confirmed he won't be able to provide it for me.
