reviving this...need clarification.

What short shifter kits are best for **1997** *5spd* **SC300's**. Ive seen both of the MVP ones which are the "C's short throw shifter for NA Supra 5spd" and the "TRD Short Shifter for NA Supra 5spd" and both say that its for 1993 to 1998 models. Any input appreciated. Thanks.

Well I didn't buy a short throw but I did separate my stock one. Then cut the threads off the top section and welded them back onto the lower section. But even with doing that, it ended up way too short haha! It was something that the MKIII supra guys did, and I had done to mine, so I figured id try it on my SC. Not a fan.

The only short shifter for our cars are the ones you stated previously. The C's short shifter (which I will probaly get) and the trd one. I would get the C 's shifter with a TRD **** and call it a day. That is the only way to get any shorter throws.

By cutting the shifter and rethreading. It will not make any of your shift throws shorter. Just lowers the position of ur shifter. I would want a short shifter for the shifting purposes.. not the height.

I personally like the stock height of my shifter, I usually lean my wrist on it while cruising on the highway.. hehehe

Ya separating it like i did doesn't actually shorten the throw but with it being lower you are moving your hand less distance. So it does feel shorter . . . . in a way. but I wouldn't suggest it. I think I just want to go back to stock shifter with my Greddy Counterweight on there. It feels great and actually gives you something to get a hold of when your going for a gear quick. Unlike now where i have to dig for my shifter
