Default 98 sc400 vvt-i possible drive shaft problem, not sure though..

My 98 vvt-i sc400 produces a weird sound while in drive, but with the car stopped. As I accelerate the sound goes away, or when I put it in neutral. At first I thought there was something lose on the exhaust pipe, and that's why I've decided to switch out my pipes to 2.25", "H" pipe, w/stock mufflers just today. Well the sound is still there so I'm now suspecting it's the drive shaft. It's not loud at all but is sort of a high pitch rumbling sound while in drive but stopped. Any ideas?

wheel bearings maybe or the carrier bearing in the drive shaft your gonna have to check the easier one is the wheel bearings as you don't have to go underneath the car

Default Flexible coupling

If the later model scs still use the flex coupling in the driveshaft, I would inspect it for cracks.

Thanks for all the help. I've been told it's the auto trans mount.

I am having a similar problem but it sounds like a grinding noise as i come to a stop, or if I put it in drive and let off the gas, but at 0-35mph its a different noise... I put it up in the air on a lift and nothing but when i put it on the ground it does it again...

Sorry I dont mean to jack you thread but it sounds very similar to what Im goin thru...
