Exclamation SC300 auto speed sensors (HELP!)

1997 sc300 auto... Okay so the problem I was having was, a CEL light my speedometer and odometer on the cluster stopped working, rpm's work fine. So i picked up from toyota, a new TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR, changed it and CEL light turned off but, still same issue with the odometer and speedometer. While I was changing the sensor i noticed another sensor next to it. I did some research and found their is a transmission speed sensor and a vehicle speed sensor (wich should be the one next to the other one i just changed, both sensors are towards the extension housing of the tranny. does anyone have any experience/help/info they can share with me on this? im just trying to get my cluster and odometer to start working again. thanks.

This is the sensor i havent changed...(vehicle speed sensor?)

The 3 wire speed sensor is for the speedo, the 2 wire sensor feeds a pulse signal to the ECU for the electronic transmission.

I have a couple laying around...

Yup! I just recently confirmed that I have a speed sensor malfunction as well...But SC's have 2 speed sensors...so I don't know which one is going bad...Anyone know what a "code 62" can tell me?

The W58 only has one speed sensor and I think it's identical to the auto 3 wire speed sensor. I think I used the one out of my auto when I did my 5 speed swap.

I have a '92 sc4 and my speedo is kaput. The odo, cruise ctrl and all other gauges work just fine. Is it the speed sensor or the the speedo itself?

Thanks a mil

Malfunctioning speed sensors must be a common problem on SC's...I went to the dealership to get a replacement and lo and behold! They had the part in stock...And it was expensive as heck too!

Sounds like the speedo itself, since there is only one speed sensor input to the instrument cluster.

I am having a similar issue. All of my gauges work except the speedo. It died. Cluster is out getting rebuilt as we speak hopefully its the fix! If not did your transmission speed sensor come with the gear or no?

on my speedo (5 spd) ... the rpm needle works, but the mph needle does not move ... so looks like my issue should not lie within the speed/gauge cluster right?
