Default SC300 how to check and add tranny fluid?

I am OCD when it comes to this. I didnt find a proper procedure in the owners manual, but do I need to check this transmission fluid when the vehicle is running at operating temperature, or do I just do it cold? I checked it when it was still somewhat warm and saw that I was like half a notch below the bottom line (after fixing a small leak). Anyway a good step by step checking and adding process would be a great help... Also I have Dexron 3 ATO and on the back it says good for Dexron 2 vehicles as well will that be ok? thanks

Check when cold through the stick and u also fill it through the stick... "do not over fill".... If you are unsure, maybe its time to do flush and refill with fresh fluid.... Yes thats ok... I think it actually says Type IV.

My only confusion is that the dipstick has a lower line for lowest point and an upper line marking the high level. In between the lines it says hot meaning I should check when hot/warm. So do I let the car heat up then shut it off to check or let it heat up and stay running to check?

If I check it cold should the level still be the same on the dipstick then?

sorry for all the questions

Im pretty sure it says T-2 since T4 wasnt made back then

n to top off.. refill via the dip stick area.. grab a pointy funnel and fill.

Use Dexron III. Do not use Toyota Type IV. Great for SC400 and Aristo/Supra Turbo trannys. Not great for SC300 Auto tranny.

Procedure is:

1. Drive car to operating temp.
2. Stop and move gear lever to all possible positions then park and turn off.
3. Check dipstick and fill to hot region. More is not better here, just to hot. If you're super **** about it, drive it again...do the same thing and re-check.

No dipstick for 5spd.. The tranny is sealed... There is a drain and filler plug.

NP... You know its full when it starts to drip from the filler plug. Thats when you stop pouring gear oil.
